How it works
Your five-minute cooling ritual
A cooling eye mask is simple, but a few habits make it far more comfortable — and make the mask last much longer.
01
Chill it
Place the mask flat in a clean bag in the fridge for 20-30 minutes, or the freezer for 10-15 minutes. Never leave a gel mask in the freezer for hours before use.
02
Check the temperature
Rest the mask against your inner wrist first. It should feel pleasantly cool, never sharply cold. If it stings, let it sit at room temperature.
03
Wear it
Lie back, close your eyes and set the mask over the eye area. Adjust the strap so it sits without pressing on your eyes.
04
Keep it short
10-15 minutes is a normal session. Remove the mask if you feel numbness, pressure or discomfort at any point.
05
Clean and store
Wipe the outer surface with a damp cloth and mild soap, air-dry fully, then store flat in its pouch or a clean bag.
Warm use
Only hot-and-cold gel masks are made for warming. Follow the manufacturer's exact timing — a few seconds too long in a microwave is the most common way people ruin a mask or burn themselves. Always test the temperature on your wrist before it touches your face.
Choosing the right mask
- 3D contoured — zero pressure on the eyelids, best for sleeping.
- Weighted — a steady, grounding feel for winding down.
- Hot & cold gel — one mask, two temperatures.
